Divers with The SeaCleaners

Divers, whether they are professionals, amateurs or simple swimmers, have a common passion: the ocean. Today, they are among the main witnesses of what happens underwater and they witness with dismay the extent of the pollution of aquatic environments. Faced with this scourge, many are those who take action and carry out diving collections to clean, mobilize and raise awareness.

What about you?

Since 2016, The SeaCleaners association has been committed on land and at sea against plastic pollution. Waste collection is one of our means of action. It allows us to recover waste and characterize it before it scatters, fragments and becomes unrecoverable. We operate at sea using environmentally friendly collection boats. We also operate on land and underwater thanks to the commitment of our volunteer teams.

Pollution persists: plastic waste takes between a few weeks and more than 450 years to degrade in the aquatic environment. This plastic waste does not disappear: it gradually breaks down into micro and then nanoparticles, invisible to the naked eye, and harmful to aquatic micro-organisms at the base of the food chain. Collecting waste underwater before it degrades, drifts, fragments and becomes irrecoverable is therefore a necessity.

And you, seabed lovers, can help us!
