Barbier became a Corporate Partner of The SeaCleaners in 2018. In this way, we intend to make a lasting contribution to the preservation of our environment, and in particular our oceans. We contribute financially to the Manta project, and also by bringing our technical expertise in recycling.

The Barbier Group, a family-owned company, is the French leader in the manufacture of polyethylene films and bags for industrial and commercial packaging as well as for agriculture, and has been since 1955.

Through eco-design, innovation, recycling and biomaterials, our end-of-life products do not remain waste but become real resources. Brunel became a Corporate Partner of The SeaCleaners in 2020 to support a cause that is dear to its heart: protecting the oceans from plastic pollution.

Created in 1946 with the Starwax brand, Brunel is part of the Altaïr group. It specializes in cleaning solutions for the home and outdoors (Starwax), as well as home renovation/repair (Sinto) and household insecticides (Kapo).

As an industrial company, Brunel has a real educational role to play and wishes to assume this role 100%. Brunel wants to be able to relay The SeaCleaners’ message to its customers and users in the most effective way possible, in order to contribute, on its own scale, to raising awareness of the problem of ocean pollution.

The Ed-Trans Group is a major player in national and international transport. Founded in 2004, it now has 6 agencies: Le Mans, 2 agencies in Nantes, Rennes, Paris and Lyon. Thanks to its own trucks or through a network of partners, it organizes road, sea and air transport for its customers.

The Group is in constant development and today has a turnover of 28 million euros.

Our transport activities are not the most virtuous for ecology, even though intelligent flow logistics and important technological developments are helping to reduce pollutant emissions. We don’t have the same levers as large companies with a CSR policy. However, we are convinced that our activities involve a search for compensation and we consider that the ecological and solidarity dimensions are inseparable from the development ambitions of our group. This is why we support The SeaCleaners.

Lagardère Travel Retail became a Corporate Partner of The SeaCleaners in 2023, to support solutions to protect the oceans from plastic pollution.

Created in 1966 by Mr. Gérard Maugin, SAS Maugin is today a recognized player in the industrial market of PVC, ALU and Steel joinery, with 300 employees, 3 production sites and a turnover of more than 62M€ for its last fiscal year. Their national network of carpenter partners, Terres de Fenêtre, covers the whole of France and offers a wide communication coverage close to private individuals.

The commitment to The SeaCleaners, in 2022, responds to the desire to actively participate in the protection of the environment. Bali Marine Service is our operational partner and port agent for the MOBULA 8. This company assists The SeaCleaners with all the formalities that allow the Mobula 8 to operate in Indonesia, such as managing the crew locally and facilitating all our port procedures with the Harbour Master (KSOP), Pelindo and customs. It is also the reason for our partnership with BaliFiberGlass, the local shipyard that manages the dry storage of the boat, the preparation works and the launching of the Mobula 8.

Gili Eco Trust

Gili Eco Trust is involved in waste management on Gili Trawangan with the FMPL (Front Masyarakat Peduli Lingkungan – community front for environmental protection): during the tourist season, there can be up to 20 tons of waste collected per day, with a large majority of organic waste. The SeaCleaners will provide technical and financial support to the current waste management of Gili Eco Trust. The main objectives of this collaboration are to find solutions to solid waste pollution and to improve the existing system (sorting, recycling and processing activities).

Popeye has joined The SeaCleaners’ fight against plastic pollution and serves to raise awareness of their worldwide ocean conservation/clean-up efforts.

The National Association for the Protection of Waters and Rivers – TOS (ANPER) was created in 1958 by fly fishermen who were already aware of the damage done to waterways by various actors.
For more than 60 years, ANPER-TOS has been fighting to obtain justice before the courts when aquatic environments and the biodiversity that lives in them are degraded.
Through its participation in public inquiries and deliberative bodies related to water management, our association ensures that public policies make the right decisions.
The association also does a great deal of work to raise awareness, especially among children, through water classes given by volunteers of the association. It also acts against the pollution of waterways by macro-waste with its project of riverbanks and it involves the general public in participative sciences allowing to better know the quality of the water near their homes.
By the variety of its actions and its tenacity, ANPER-TOS remains since its creation, a particular and important entity for the general interest, which was worth being recognized of public utility since 1985.

The Grand Aquarium de Saint-Malo, involved in the preservation of marine ecosystems, aims to raise awareness among the general public by supporting environmental or species conservation associations.

An educational mission
The Grand Aquarium de Saint-Malo and its educational team offer to help students discover the mysteries of the sea through an exceptional collection in 12 interactive workshops.

This is the ideal opportunity to observe, discover, touch or even feed the animals and to highlight the relationships between them.
The workshops are perfectly in line with school curricula and the pupils enjoy learning.

Taking action for the blue planet
The Grand Aquarium is a member of the World Ocean Network, and takes part in World Oceans Day on 8 June.

In 2020, the Grand Aquarium will join The SeaCleaners’ “Aquariums Programme” and will offer fun tools to raise awareness of plastic pollution in the oceans. How can we fight it on a daily basis with simple gestures? Young and old alike can find answers.

ITS MISSIONS

TO DISCOVER AND UNDERSTAND THE FRAGILE BEAUTY OF MARINE BIODIVERSITY

The Aquarium’s circular and geographical route allows for a progressive immersion in the fifty or so tanks reconstituting the biotopes of the Seine, the Atlantic, the English Channel, the Mediterranean, the coral reefs of Tahiti, the Caribbean and Guyana.

Let yourself be hypnotized at the Médusarium©, which hosts the largest exhibition of jellyfish in Europe with 50 species presented in rotation in 25 tanks.

RAISING AWARENESS OF THE MARINE ENVIRONMENT

The Paris Aquarium is both a living heritage museum and an informal environmental education institution.
It is an essential educational tool for discovering and observing marine fauna and biodiversity. It is a place for exchange on the environmental issues and challenges that affect the ocean and threaten the quality of life on earth.

DEVELOPING AND TRANSMITTING KNOWLEDGE

During the visit, educational activities are offered throughout the day. Those on the theme of plastic pollution are presented in partnership with The SeaCleaners.

COMMITTED

Since 2004, the Océarium du Croisic has been part of the W.O.N. (World Ocean Network), a network made up of aquariums, museums, zoological parks, NGOs, etc., and thus participates every 8 June in World Ocean Day.
The Océarium du Croisic carries out various actions to protect the oceans:

• awareness-raising actions in the field: beach clean-ups, distribution of rubbish bags to boaters,
• conferences on various themes such as the use of seafood in cancer research,
• meetings with the media, local elected officials and schools in order to raise awareness of the need to protect the marine environment.
• The partnership set up with The SeaCleaners allows us to propose another approach to the fight against plastic pollution in the oceans.

Because almost everything on earth ends up in the oceans at some point and because it is not too late for things to change!

EUAC: EUROPEAN UNION OF AQUARIUM CURATORS
As an early member of the EUAC, the Océarium maintains privileged relations with its European colleagues. Every year, numerous exchanges of animals as well as technical and scientific information take place with aquariums in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Belgium, etc.
The Océarium is also a member of the Union des Conservateurs d’Aquariums français (UCA). In 2013.

OTHER ACTIONS OF THE OCEARIUM:
The Océarium works with the OBSERVATOIRE PELAGIS which is setting up an observation system for the conservation of marine mammals and birds.
The Océarium, in partnership with APECS, the Association for the Study and Conservation of Selachians (sharks and rays), participates in the CAPOERA programme on its coastline (collection of ray eggs).
For more than 40 years, the Océarium has made the breeding of rays its speciality.
The Océarium helps to sustain jobs and to develop a sea turtle conservation programme in the south-west of Sri-Lanka by supporting a sea turtle farm on site.

In addition to entertainment, the Lyon Aquarium has missions to raise awareness, education, research and species conservation. Each animal is an ambassador for its environment and helps to explain to the public the fragility of its natural world.

The Lyon Aquarium offers a number of tools for visitors: educational panels and signs, educational sheets, educational workshops that are part of the academic programmes (available for schools and leisure centres), guided tours and educational events. In 2020, the partnership with The SeaCleaners will enrich the activities on the theme of plastic pollution in the oceans.

The Lyon Aquarium is committed to building sustainable ecosystems to reproduce almost identically the habitat of each geographical area represented. No animal is chosen for its commercial or spectacular appeal. The Lyon Aquarium optimises exchanges, donations and reproductions.

Coral Programme
To avoid collecting in the wild and to raise public awareness of the incredible biodiversity of coral reefs, the Lyon Aquarium has been cultivating coral for more than 10 years with no less than 20 different species. Thus, no coral from wild harvesting is present at the Lyon Aquarium.
Today, this know-how enables us to participate in the stocking of many other establishments such as those in Paris, Biarritz and Montpellier.

Furthermore, the Lyon Aquarium is a member of the Union des Conservateurs d’Aquariums (UCA). This association was officially created in 1987. For years, the UCA has engaged in a reflection on the profession and its aspects relating to the protection of the environment and has become a privileged interlocutor with the public authorities.

Located near the beach, in the Malo park, the Aquarium of Dunkerque will make you discover aquatic species from different seas of the globe, such as the famous “Nemo” and “Dory” or the curly ray and the common seahorse, fish from our coastline. Lakes and rivers from South America to China and Africa are also featured, represented by piranhas and other fish and turtles. A total of 37 freshwater species and 120 saltwater species are represented in our aquariums. There is also a temporary exhibition along the tour route: fishing, shellfish and crustaceans are among the various themes dealt with over the years.

The aquarium is one of the most visited cultural facilities in Dunkirk, with more than 31,000 visitors in 2022. Every year, the aquarium welcomes many schoolchildren and leisure centres and raises children’s awareness of the aquatic world through activities on themes ranging from biology to the pollution of our oceans. The partnership initiated with The SeaCleaners will allow the diversification of the proposed activities, in particular through games, in order to address as many people as possible.

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation works to protect the environment by establishing partnerships to carry out projects and undertake concrete actions in its priority fields of action. In November 2017, The SeaCleaners project and MANTA were endorsed by the foundation for its commitment to the preservation of the oceans and its biodiversity.

The Campaign

Through the Clean Seas platform, UNEP is connecting and rallying individuals, civil society groups, industry and governments for catalyzing change and transforming habits, practices, standards and policies around the globe to dramatically reduce marine litter and its negative impacts.

Since its launch in 2017, the campaign has become a catalyst for change, transforming habits, practices, standards and policies around the globe. To date, 69 countries have joined, making the Clean Seas Campaign the biggest, most powerful global coalition devoted to ending marine plastic pollution.

Commitments by signatory countries now cover more than 76 per cent of the world’s coastlines. Land locked countries are also coming on board, seeing the value of its source to sea approach. Countries, businesses and individuals have pledged to turn the tide on plastic waste.

The SeaCleaners joins the United Nations Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

At our level, we are proud to become a full-fledged player in this immense momentum for the ocean. How do we do this? By contributing, thanks to the principle of Open Data applied to the data and knowledge resulting from the work of our Science Pole, to enriching “The Science We Need For The Ocean We Want”.

Proclaimed in December 2017 at the 72nd Session of the UN General Assembly, the official launch of the Decade will take place from 31 May to 2 June 2021, in Berlin. UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) has been charged with developing its implementation.

Supporting efforts to reverse the cycle of declining ocean health and create better conditions for the sustainable development of the ocean, seas and coasts is the main objective of the Decade.

Over the next ten years, the aim is to coordinate programmes of research, observation systems, capacity development, marine spatial planning and marine risk reduction to improve the management of ocean and coastal zone resources. The aim is also to encourage the scientific community, the public and policy-makers to change their way of thinking with a view to achieving real change.

The six societal objectives to be achieved are as follows:

• A safe ocean
• A sustainably harvested ocean ensuring the provision of food supply
• A transparent ocean with open access to data, information and technologies
• A clean ocean
• A healthy and resilient ocean
• A predictable ocean

The United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development will accelerate the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14 for the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean, seas and marine resources.

In this context, the International Scientific Advisory Board of The SeaCleaners finds all its legitimacy. It reflects the association’s desire to implement a rigorous scientific approach in order to gather the knowledge necessary for our projects. This provides the international scientific community with a valuable opportunity to collect quality data on major research topics related to marine plastic pollution.

The SeaCleaners is now a member of the international alliance Plastic Pollution Coalition.

We are proud to join this global community of more than 1,200 organizations, businesses, citizens and policy makers from 75 countries. All over the world, everyone is working to fight the toxic effects of plastic pollution on humans, animals, rivers, the ocean and the environment.

As a growing global alliance, the Plastic Pollution Coalition has a strong international base. Its members are all stakeholders convinced of the need to work together to accelerate the deployment of concrete measures, particularly against plastic pollution of the oceans.

This dynamic is reflected in collective actions on the ground. I.e. ? Plastic Free July, which helps citizens to take action and get involved in projects to fight plastic waste.

In our turn, we invite citizens, organizations and companies who share the same vision of a world without plastic pollution to join the Coalition!

Member Certificate of the Global Partnership on Marine Litter.

We are proud to announce that The SeaCleaners is now recognized as a certified member of the Global Partnership on Marine Litter (GPML).

GPML is an initiative of the United Nations Environment Agency. It is a multi- stakeholder partnership that brings together all stakeholders working to prevent marine litter and microplastics.

Its mission : to protect the global marine environment, human and animal welfare by tackling the global problem of marine litter.

GPML members provide a unique global platform for sharing knowledge and experience. Within it, they cooperate to create and bring out innovative solutions.

Its main missions are:

• To facilitate cooperation,
• To share relevant information on projects and initiatives in order to identify and fill gaps and avoidduplication,
• To contribute to marine litter action plans at different levels
• To reduce plastic spills in the ocean, through better design; the application of the principle of reduction, reuse and recycling (3R); promoting closed-loop systems and more circular production cycles; maximizing resource efficiency and minimizing waste generation.

We are happy to join this global movement and look forward to contributing to the dynamic of the fight against the scourge of plastic pollution, while remaining faithful to our philosophy: to act concretely, on land and at sea, to cooperate with everyone, decision-makers, scientists, actors of land.
